Biography
Having completed M.D. in Anaesthesiology from J.N.M.C, Belgaum, Dr. Anuja Pandit was exposed to various super-specialties, and awarded ‘Smile Train Foundation Gold Medal’ and ‘Kotur Memorial Gold Medal’. She presented research papers at various conferences and was awarded for best research work in the field of Trauma Care at International Congress of ISTAC,2012. In 2015, she was selected by the World Federation of Societies of Anaesthesiologists (WFSA) for the ‘WFSA-Baxter Scholarship’ to represent India at the SAARC countries Anaesthesiologist meet in Nepal. She has also worked in a rural setup in KLES Dr. Kamal Patil Hospital, Ankola as part of postgraduate curriculum. In 2013, while working as a Senior Resident in Tata Memorial Hospital, Mumbai, she developed interest in different aspects of Oncoanaesthesiology, critical care and difficult airway settings. In 2015, she joined All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi as a Senior Resident in Department of Oncoanaesthesia and Palliative Medicine to develop finer skills in areas of her interest. She also completed a certified course in Management in Health, awarded by the World Bank. She also recieved certified Palliative care training and completed formal training in Oncoanaesthesia at A.I.I.M.S., New Delhi and was the first in the country to earn a Doctorate in Oncoanaesthesia. She completed a thesis on Anaesthetic management during HIPEC surgeries, which was awarded for the best paper presented during a conference on Peritoneal Surface Malignancies in 2018. She has also won academic debates advocating for palliative care provision for patients suffering from chronic non-malignant conditions; and, for the provision of palliative care training for all medical health professionals. She has also been part of teaching programs related to cancer pain and Oncoanesthesia and was one of the founding members of Society of Oncoanaesthesia and Perioperative Care in India. She is currently working as an Assistant Professor in Dept. of Onco-Anaesthesia and Palliative Medicine, National Cancer Institute, AIIMS, New Delhi.
